SSP online training course
Welcome to the SSP online training course! This self-study course will take you through the Sanitation Safety Plan methodology, equipping you with the knowledge and skills to initiate, implement and sustain SSP processes in your locality.
The training consists of 7 lectures. The first lecture is an introduction of SSP, in which you will learn about the WHO Guidelines on Sanitation and Health, as well as the principles of Sanitation Safety Planning. The following 6 lectures present the SSP process in six modules:
Module 1: Prepare for SSP
Module 2: Describe the sanitation system
Module 3: Identify hazards, hazardous events, existing control measure and exposure risks
Module 4: Develop and implement an incremental improvement plan
Module 5: Monitor control measures and verify performance
Module 6: Develop supporting programs and review plans
Kate Medlicott, Sanitation and Wastewater Team Leader- WHO, Sophie Boisson, Technical Officer – Water, Sanitation, Hygiene and Health – WHO, and Leonellha Barreto Dillon, Consultant – Senior Partner at seecon, will guide you through the training.
While taking the lessons, it is recommended to revise the SSP manual, which contains guidance notes and examples and tools. You can also follow a worked example from the start to finish of the SSP process.
