SSP Training Package

This trainers’ package is a toolbox for designing and implementing workshops and trainings on “Sanitation Safety Planning: a step-by-step risk management for safely managed sanitation systems”. It has been prepared for:

  • Local and international consultants and trainers who will build capacity of practitioners to carry out SSP processes.
  • Local consultants who will facilitate SSP workshops with SSP teams.

The WHO expect that the trainer is a person who is very knowledgeable and experienced in SSP and/or competent in risk-based approaches in the water/sanitation or environmental health sectors. The trainer needs not be a professional trainer, although prior experience in training is an asset.

Sanitation Safety Planning training courses usually take 3 entire days. However, it is possible to present SSP in 1-day or ½ day workshops and seminars. This training package offers the entire resources needed for the full 3-day training course. Trainers are expected to adapt the materials according to the target audience, the time available and the audience.

In this package, trainers will find a SSP Trainer’s Guide with instructions about target audiences, workshop formats and duration, learning objectives, proposed agendas, and training plans. Also, the document offers “tips and tricks” for trainers, with guidance for the preparation of training materials and venue requirements. Annex 3 presents screenplays for each single slide of all 8 PPT lectures.

All presentations are available as Power Point documents to be edited, adapted, and used by trainers. The worksheets are ready-made word documents which can be used as notebooks by individual participants (worksheet 1), or to develop group projects (worksheet 3).

You can also share this training package with your participants, so they can directly download the material.

Enjoy preparing and delivering SSP trainings!

PPTs and the trainer guide are prepared using the Font Source Sans Pro. It is highly recommended to download this open source font at: https://fonts.google.com/specimen/Source+Sans+3. You will get a much better image, as the guidelines and power points are designed using this font!
